I have a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University and am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Kim Powell, PhD, LPC-S. I'm a queer and neurodivergent counselor that specializes in working with complex trauma within neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ adult and older adolescent populations. My goals are to build a strong therapeutic relationship with clients and create a space that fosters authenticity, connection, and empowerment.
I have 3 years of experience working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent folks, as well as survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, and sexual assault.I am deeply passionate about providing affirming and multiculturally competent care to connect with a diverse range of clients.
I incorporate a range of therapeutic techniques, including Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Person-Centered, and expressive arts, allowing me to adapt to your unique needs and personal experiences. I use a relational, trauma-informed, and multicultural feminist approach to build a strong therapeutic relationship with clients where there is safety, trust, and mutual empathy. I believe that you know you best and I view myself as someone supporting you on your journey to living your most authentic and fulfilling life. I want to work together to make collaborative choices that move you closer to your personal goals. If you would like to increase your self-compassion, decrease guilt and shame, increase your ability to self-regulate and cope with life stressors, and develop strategies to accommodate yourself and improve executive functioning, then I might be the counselor for you!
I am available for individual counseling with adults or older adolescents, and I have flexible scheduling. Please contact me directly at 469-240-2337 ext. 716 or swilkins@lotusflowermound.
