Hello! My name is Ali (pronounced like Ollie) Noel. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies and my Master of Science in Applied Psychology. I am a practicum student pursuing my doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Texas Woman’s University.
I am a Black, queer woman with chronic health conditions. Therefore, I understand, both personally and professionally, the value of intersectionality and taking a holistic view of people and the context of their lives. I strive to help others navigate the challenges and wonders of human existence.
I adopt a person-centered approach, bring in elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, as applicable, and utilize personal histories to inform how to address the present and future of my clients. I believe in collaborating with my clients, learning about their experiences, perspectives, and goals, and using tools such as active listening, validation, psychoeducation, and sometimes humor to help my clients achieve their goals. I have experience working with clients whose ages ranged from childhood through late adulthood from a variety of racial backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations, and who sought assistance with concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, traumatic experiences, personality disorders, and life transitions. I believe everyone deserves a safe space to explore, process, and grow and I am honored to support my clients as they embark on their mental health journeys.
